Scat
Records is an independent label that was spawned in Cleveland in
1989 and is presently located in St. Louis, Missouri. Scat does
not specialize in any particular kind of music, beyond the good
kind. I like artists with vision, natural talent and expressive
ability playing in a basically rock context. Timeless rock albums
are the goal. Wholesale inquiries should be directed to my distributor,
Revolver
USA. Other matters can be addressed to me - click the mail icon
at bottom left.
This site is
a good place to buy, hear or read about Finn's Motel, Yellow #5,
Electric Eels, Mirrors, Styrenes, the Mice, Prisonshake, Guided
By Voices, Cobra Verde, Speaking Canaries, Nothing Painted Blue,
My Dad Is Dead, Pufftube and many others. Single LPs and CDs are
generally $10 or $12 and shipping starts at $2.75. Click the store
link at left to enter the secure online shop. Mastercard/Visa, paypal,
and payments by mail are all welcome. All the non-analog parts of
the Scat catalog are also available at audiolunchbox.com, iTunes,
or eMusic if you rock that way.

The
new album by Prisonshake is out today.
I
really like that sentence.

I've
been so preoccupied with various streaming players that I forgot
to put up a free mp3, so at right you'll find a link to Crush Me,
a roughmix of which I posted years ago, perhaps under a different
title, as this one's had a few. A few recent pics have also been
added to the band page. Scroll
down to the bottom for those.
Cobra
Verde's new album Haven't Slept All Year will be out Oct 28.

Pre-order
for the new Prisonshake is now up. Price is $12 for 2CD or $17 for
2LP. Vinyl buyers will also be able to buy CDs in generic sleeves
for mobile listening. Each format has the same tip-on gatefold jacket,
the CD one is just small, but definitely nicer than a standard jewel
box package. The vinyl does have a more extensive and larger format
booklet. I will also have gigs to announce in Cleveland, Chicago
and St. Louis. There is likely to be a trip further east next spring,
but this will be it for shows this year
Bill
Fox's Shelter from the Smoke is going to be an early '09
release. I couldn't get the art together in time for the deadline,
and I can devote more time to the release if we hold off just a
little while. I do have a master in hand and it is as I previously
described.
Cobra
Verde's new album, Haven't Slept All Year, which requires
very little time from me because it is a co-release with Scamcity,
is likely to come out in November.

The
Spike
in Vain LPs are back in stock finally, I just got the
last couple boxes so these are the very last of them. Also, if
you were ever thinking of buying My Dad Is Dead's "Out of Sight..."
LP or the Hotel Cleveland III 2x10" - do so now, there is but
one copy left of each.

There's
now a Prisonshake myspace & blog about the new album, links
at right. That little preview flash player is gone; when traffic
was heavy on it the player either wouldn't work or the server would
crash, so enough of that. I've had to push the release date back
a month because the pressing plant is so backed up.
Bill
Fox's Shelter from the Smoke will hopefully see a September
release, and Bill has initially agreed to include all the songs
from both versions of the album as well as the Bird of the World
45.
There
may be a new Cobra Verde album before the year is out as well.

"Among

-Samuel

"As
societies grow decadent, the language grows decadent, too. Words
are used to disguise, not to illuminate, action: You liberate a
city by destroying it. Words are used to confuse, so that at election
time people will solemnly vote against their own interests."
-Gore
Vidal
"To
criticize one's country is to do it a service....Criticism, in short,
is more than a right; it is an act of patriotism-a higher form of
patriotism, I believe, than the familiar rituals and national adulation."
-J. William Fulbright
"Our
tradition is one of protest and revolt, and it is stultifying to
celebrate the rebels of the past...while we silence the rebels of
the present."
- Henry Steele Commager

stupidity."
