- "taped number," usually a piece of masking tape w/number written
on it, less often a piece of paper scotch taped to jacket (late 40s/early
50s LPs). Masking tape can usually be removed, but often the ink bled through
or the tape leaves a sticky residue ("Goo Gone" will take care of
that). These all come from a large collection in which the owner set up his
own card catalog system, numbering his LPs rather than sorting by name or
label..
